Blood contains many red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets which assist blood clotting when we bleed. Oxygen is transported around our body from the lungs via the red blood cells and make the blood red in colour. The body needs a constant supply of oxygen to ensure that it grows, stays healthy and keeps us alive.

Sometime the amount of red blood cells we have declines and we have anaemia. This can make us feel tired, moody and weak. Our skin may become pale, our appetites poor and we develop headaches. Children who develop anaemia become sick more often and their muscles and brains can also become affected.

Iron deficiency is the most common reason for a child to develop anaemia. The mineral iron is essential in the production of red blood cells. Those children who do not get enough iron usually produce small, ineffective, pale red blood cells.

Children who are iron deficient tend not to learn as well, even if their deficiency does not result in anaemia. Their ability to remember decreases along with their performance at school, both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Iron deficiency occurs if a child does not eat enough iron containing food or if they lose high amounts of iron through bleeding, or their need for more red blood cells is increased. Iron deficiency anaemia is most common in infants and adolescents, girls more than boys.

Anaemia in most children often goes unnoticed because it is not severe enough to create noticeable symptoms. However, it can still slow down cognitive development. It can cause a decrease in attention span, a child’s learning ability and their alertness. Those children who are iron deficient often eat dirt, ice or other items containing minerals.

Fatigue and irritability are common in those children who are low to moderately defiant in iron. You may notice that there is a bluish tint to the white parts of their eyes. They may also appear to be pale in their skin.

Those children with prolonged or severe anaemia often become irritable, their appetite is decrease, the growth slows down, their tongue become swollen and their nails become brittle, flat or spoon shaped. Those cases that are very serious can result in the child going into heart failure.

The best way to prevent and treat iron deficient anaemia is through their diet. Many foods are excellent sources of iron such as breast milk, infant cereals, liver, prune juice. Eggs, meat, chicken, fish, soybeans, turkey, peanut butter, dried beans and lentils are very good sources of iron. Tuna, apricots, oatmeal, raison, prunes, spinach and greens are all good sources of iron.

Nearly all cases of severe iron deficiency in younger children involve those children who drink too much cow’s milk. Anaemia can be made worse if a child drinks too much cow’s milk. This is due to iron being lost through the intestines making it difficult for their body to utilise the iron that is present, a child should not have more that 32 ounces of cows milk per day.

Living a balanced life and having a balanced diet is important in being able to keep up the energy that is needed. However, every individual needs something different according to their build. There are several different ways to find out what you should eat and how much you should work out, as well as where the concentration should be. By understanding your individual make-up, your nutrition can be more effectively met.

The way in which your body is measured is through a body mass to fat mass ratios. Depending on your body composition, this will vary. This is all connected to what is known as the Resting Metabolic Rate or RMR. This is a measurement that states how many calories you need to burn as well as what your balance should be like. By having the right balance in your body to fat mass, your nutritional lifestyle will be more effective.

The three things measured in nutrition with body to fat mass include carbohydrates, protein and fat. These are then compared to how your metabolism works on these three elements. These should all be balanced with what you are eating as well as how you are working out. When measurements are taken, it is easy to find if one of these are off as well as how much of these three elements you should be preserving and burning off everyday.

Other things that you should consider in relation to this are having your cholesterol checked and your blood pressure measured. If these are off, it will be important to change your diet and exercise habits. Often times, it is found that blood pressure is too high or too low. By not having this balanced, it can cause several problems later on. Often times after this testing, it will be found that cholesterol and blood pressure are too high or low. If this is the case, you should attempt to develop nutritional habits that will help to balance these different areas in your body.

After your metabolism, fat mass to body mass ratios, blood pressure and cholesterol have been checked, it will be easy to determine what you need to eat and exercise with in order to stay balanced. You can then center your eating needs, supplements and vitamins as well as exercise program around these measurements and ratios.

In order to find what these measurements are, you can visit several different types of professionals. Doctors and physicians can help to find the right measurements. There are also several fitness and health clubs that offer testing when you become part of their club. Professional trainers are also familiar with these types of testing.

Knowing the balance in your own body is an important part of becoming healthy faster. it will also help you to be able to find the right solutions in order to build your nutritious needs. By knowing what your individual needs are in relation to your body, you can easily loose weight, tone and build muscle and begin to eat right. These will then help to contribute to your everyday lifestyle.

Macrobiotic dieting is a different form of dieting that helps one with their nutritious endeavors. This type of technique uses awareness as it’s basis, then allowing the needed foods to move into the diet. Through understanding macrobiotics, one will be able to understand the different needs of their body, as well as how to maintain a healthy lifestyle with the foods that they eat.

Macrobiotics is a technique that originated from ancient Chinese food traditions. It is often referred to as food energetics. In the 1970s, Macrobiotic dieting became more popular in the Western tradition, with several teachers from Chinese traditions teaching the techniques.

The idea behind macrobiotics is to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle by balancing and harmonizing our food with our internal and external environments. By doing this, the food not only helps in balancing ourselves, but also allows for a connection between the body, mind and soul and it’s relation to the environment around it.

One of the techniques that are used with the macrobiotic diet is changing the foods according to the seasons. For example, in the summer time, your body will need different types of food because of the warmth that surrounds it. The method that is used for cooking, as well as the types of cooking that are used will respond to the warmth in the air. During the winter seasons, the food will be thicker, use more oils, seasonings and salt, and will have foods that have been baked or cooked longer in order to help in preserving energy when it is cold.

From here, this type of diet is said to affect our personal behaviors and feelings. Your mood and your personal life are all a part of the food that moves through your body and releases energy. Because of this, when the technique is employed properly, it is known to reduce stress, help with mental and emotional clarity and reduce disorders as well as more major health problems. There are several who, after having cancer, used the macrobiotic techniques in order to help them rebalance their lives.

For those that are interested in this method and lifestyle for nutrition, there are several recipes and meals that can be found and used. Remedies for sicknesses are also found to be able to use in relation to this. If you are being introduced to macrobiotics, you can meet with someone who is specialized in the technique, or you can find several basic cooking techniques that will help with this method of eating healthy.

Macrobiotic techniques are one way for one to take into consideration methods of dieting. This type of diet is based around the philosophy that our inner awareness, as well as external environment affects our energy intake. Because of this, it is important to take the environment and see what our inner energy and moods need in relation to this. By doing this, one will be able to have the right amount of nutrients and energy in their eating habits. It is also known that they will feel more balanced in their lifestyle.

Vitamin D is also referred to as ergocalciferol through scientific terms and because of its makeup and compounds. It is also known to be an important supplement for the body and providing levels of nutrition. Each vitamin that you give to your body will then digest that vitamin and provide higher levels of functioning. The vitamins that you put in your body are the only way to provide essential nutrients to functioning. Because of this, it is important to know what different vitamins can do for you.

Vitamin D comes in three different types of substances. The first is the regular vitamin D. This is known to be a fat-soluble vitamin and can not alter it’s functioning through extreme heat or cold. Vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 are the other two types of vitamin D. Vitamin D3 is usually found in animal tissue while vitamin D2 can be found after it is synthesized through things such as yeast. All of these types of vitamin D are important to include in your diet and to be aware of in order to balance out what is needed.

Vitamin D moves through the body in a specific manner in order to allow for the vitamin to move to specific places in the body and provide the proper functioning. The vitamin will first move into the intestinal walls and will be sucked into them to provide most of the nutrients in this area. From here, the vitamin can easily move into the liver, where it is stored until the body can use the source.

Vitamin D is often times referred to as the sunshine vitamin. This is because it will be available to the body with exposure to ultraviolet rays. It will then move into areas where cholesterol is in the form of vitamin D3. This vitamin is also essential for bone growth and development. It not only helps with this formation, but also of proper formation of hormones that are located in the thyroid gland. From here, vitamin D can be used in order to help with blood circulation as well as with the proper functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin D can be found in several specific sources that are used in every day foods and cooking. If they are not found here, or if you don’t feel like you are getting enough vitamin D, you can always take a vitamin or supplement that will provide for more nutrients. In foods, vitamin D is most often found in milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy products. It can also be found in liver as well as fish oils.

Providing your body with vitamin D is a good step in maintaining nutritious value in your body. By doing this, you will be able to produce normal levels of hormones and bones, as well as help with the regular functioning and circulation in several different areas of your body. You should always keep track of how much vitamin D you are putting into your system. By doing this, it will allow for you to be able to have a balanced and nutritious diet.

Unless otherwise stated by a medical professional, overweight children should be not encouraged to directly lose weight; they should be encouraged to grow into it as they become taller.

You should never put a child on a weight loss diet without first seeking medical advice as this may affect their growth. Dieting that is unregulated, especially in teenage girls may lead to an eating disorder such as Anorexia nervosa or Bulimia.

However there is a healthy way to encourage a child to maintain a healthy weight by encouraging them to increase their physical activity and make some important changes to their eating habits.

Eat a healthy diet that is well balanced

Luckily is easier to change a child’s eating habits than it is to change an adults. If you are concerned about your child’s weight you should encourage them to eat a variety of fresh foods that are nutritious. You should also replace foods that are high in fat such as biscuits, chocolate, crisps and cakes with alternatives that are healthy such as fresh fruit, wholegrain bread or crackers.

Grill or bake foods rather than frying them. Foods such as fish fingers, sausages, burgers are much tastier when grilled and have a lower fat content. Always use oven chips which are lower in fat compared to frying chips.

Starchy foods rich in complex carbohydrates are ‘bulky’ compared to the amount of fat and calories they contain, therefore we feel full after eating them. Foods such as these include potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and should provides half of the energy present in a child’s diet.

Don’t buy fizzy drinks that contain lots of sugar. Instead use fresh fruit juices which are diluted with water or sugar free juices.

Start your child’s day with a low sugar cereal such as wholemeal wheat biscuits with milk plus fruit such as a banana.

Don’t buy sweets. If they are not in the house, your child can’t eat them and will eat whatever else there is instead. Buy dried fruit such as raisins, berries or tinned fruit that is in natural juice. Offer frozen yoghurt rather than ice cream.

To enable your child to change and learn new eating habits, you to need to amend your own eating habits so you are setting a good example. To prevent children grazing all day, provide them with regular meals at set, routine times. Never allow your child to each whilst they are doing their homework or watching television.
Use mealtimes as an opportunity for the family to set at a table together and encourage your child to listen to what their stomachs tell them so they learn to only eat when they are hungry as opposed to eating out of habit.

Teach your child to chew their food thoroughly and eat at a slower pace so they savour and appreciate their food making them feel fuller rather than overeating.

Don’t visit a fast food restaurant on a regular routine, instead, if necessary visit them as a rare treat. Ask your child to assist you when you are preparing food so they are more interested and aware of what they are eating. A child who has helped prepare a healthy meal is more likely to eat it. Encourage older children to keep a food diary to identify the times they are likely to snack.

For those that are interested in the vitamins that are needed for the regular and healthy functioning of their body, then knowing about vitamin E is one of the places to start. This is an important vitamin in maintaining health and balance in your body. There are several factors to consider in relation to vitamin E, all which will help you in determining whether you are getting enough of this substance in your daily diet.

Vitamin E is best known as an antioxidant for the system. It has seven compounds that are in its natural form, all which are fat soluble. Vitamin E can be used in several different forms, however, the natural type of vitamin E is what can be used best through the body and can be absorbed throughout the body.

Vitamin E moves through a series of places throughout the body in order to help with functioning. It is first moved into the intestines. Usually, having bile salts in this area will help with its absorption. From here, the substances will move into the liver, muscles, heart, sex glands and fat storing areas. These will then be used as needed by the body for proper functioning. If someone has too much vitamin E in their system, the body will naturally get rid of it. Vitamin E can also be referred to as a protection vitamin, as it will help with the protection of cells, fatty acids that are needed by the body and other vitamins. By protecting these, it allows them to be able to move into proper functioning, instead of being destroyed by things such as oxidation.

Vitamin E, beyond these inner functioning, also helps with providing better and younger looking skin. It also helps the blood circulation to flow at a more regular pace, which eventually leads to the prevention of blood clotting.

Vitamin E can be found in a variety of food products. This varies from egg yolks to grains, and also includes things such as avocado, sesame seeds and tahini. If you fry foods or are eating something that has been cooked in the open, it will quickly destroy vitamin E products. Vitamin E will also not be able to stay in the body if the food has been in a deep freezing area.

One of the things to keep in mind with this type of vitamin is that taking too much can cause the opposite affect to your body. It will be protecting so many different areas of your body that it may cause problems such as weakness of muscles and fatigue. Because of this, it is important to monitor how much vitamin E you are taking.

Vitamin E provides several areas of help for the body. By taking vitamin E every day, you can ensure that your body will be able to function at a higher level and will allow for a better complete system. There are several reasons to use vitamin E, as well as several studies that ensure that this supplement is one of the most important for your system.

One of the diets that several consider when thinking about health is a raw food diet. In this type of diet, one only eats foods that are not cooked, gaining all nutrients from foods that are more natural, also known as living foods. When considering this type of dieting technique, it is important to know the details about what is involved.

The raw food diet is based off the idea that everything should be eaten while living. This living material is not necessarily the food, but the enzymes that are in the food. These enzymes are known to die after they reach one-hundred and two degrees, causing for some of the nutrients in the food to be lost. After this, the heat may cause the structure of the food to break down and cause the food to become toxic. Enzymes are often referred to as the energy that is contained in the food.

The first difference that will happen if one begins eating raw food is a change in the balance and functioning of the bodies system. Cooked food causes for the stomach to have to move by large secretions, which produces things like stomach acid. When one eats only raw foods, this high protein level is not needed and causes the stomach acid to not be as dominant in the bodies system.

From here, a raw food diet can be divided into several different types of categories. There are those that eat mostly fruit, mostly sprouts, or mostly fruit juice. Depending on which types of nutrients are wanted inside the body will cause a change in what you base your raw food diet on. Some raw foods will include nuts, in order to get the proper protein. If this is part of your diet, it is best to soak the nuts for twenty-four hours, which allows for the enzymes to become living. There are also several who will eat most raw food, with a little of cooked foods. Usually, if one wants to be considered to be on a raw food lifestyle, they will eat seventy-five percent or more of raw foods.

There are several different changes that those on a raw food diet will notice. The first is that there is a higher amount of energy that is part of their lifestyle. This also includes general health that is improved from not eating cooked or heavy meals. There is also a process that the body will go through in order to detoxify the body and get all of the unwanted chemicals out of the body. The immune system is also known to improve with this kind of diet.

If you are interested in a raw food diet, you can expect your body to go through several changes. The raw food diet is one that is well known among several who are interested in changing their lifestyle towards eating different types of enzymes. The results of the raw food diet help with an increase in energy, as well as a change in the balance and functioning of the body. By looking into and researching what the raw food diet will include, you can decide whether it is a right move for you.

Ensuring that your child is receiving a healthy, balanced diet is a battle for every parent, especially today when brightly coloured fun meals are everywhere. However there are certain things can be done to motivate pre-school children to eat a healthy diet. Remember the younger you start with good habits, the faster they will acquire their tastes in the healthy direction.

Limitation
If you only buy foods that are healthy, your children (and you) can only pick their favourite foods amongst the healthy choices.

Tasty choices
We often limit our children’s fruit choice to apples, bananas, grapes and oranges. However, many children enjoy peaches, tangerines, cherries, raspberries , blackberries, blueberries and strawberries, pears, plumbs, watermelons and pineapples. You can always add fruits such as these to healthy breakfast cereals. Instead of offering your child toast made from white flour, offer bran crisp bread. If your child is a big fan of pancakes, always serve whole grain pancakes.
Butter on vegetables can be a treat making them a lot tastier to the child. Many children enjoy raw vegetables such as carrot so offer as a finger food.

Presentation
Remember that we are competing against the major bright fun meal advertising. There are constant advertisements on children’s TV for unhealthy foods that contain too much salt and sugar. We as parents have to advertise the ‘boring’ healthy vegetables and grains. But they need not be boring. Children of a pre-school age adore food that is shaped into something, for example a face, snowman, teddy. The big food giants do it with their fun meals so why shouldn’t we? Wholegrain pancakes may be shaped like a face by using fruit pieces such as berry as the features. Why not serve corn on the cob like a rocket? Wholegrain bread toast can be shaped as well as your artistic skills carry you – a star for example.

Hiding it
If your child is too wise for your tricks, sneak the healthy food in. Bake carrot cake or add finely shaved vegetables to anything. Dried fruit is high in sugar and fibre and can be treat like sweets. Fruit and vegetables can be hid into smoothies and juices via a high speed blender.

Multivitamin
To ensure that your child is receiving the necessary amounts of vitamins, given them an approved multivitamin supplement that is safe for children. Do not rely on these instead of providing your child with a healthy balanced diet. They should only be considered as a safety net. Still aim for your child to eat a variety of fruit and vegetables, along with lean proteins and complex carbohydrates.

Pre-school children and toddlers can be picky eaters. However, their tastes change as they grow and they should soon be eating the same as the rest of the family. Its all about education and gentle persuasion, making mealtimes a fun, learning experience. A child that has been involved in safe food.

The South Beach diet is becoming a more popular type of diet in order to balance out nutrition and eating habits. There are several ideas and informational resources that are used for the South Beach diet. These are all centered on you finding a balance in your nutrition so that you can loose weight and feel healthier.

The South Beach diet is based on finding a balance in your meals and in your diet. Most diets concentrate on taking away carbohydrates or fat. However, the South Beach Diet states that some of these carbohydrates and fat are good for you. It is the ones that do not add nutrients or energy to your system that should be taken away.

The South Beach Diet is divided into phases that help your body to adjust to a new lifestyle with new eating habits. During the first two weeks of this diet, one is able to change the way that they eat. During this time, it is important to find foods that do not have saturated fats in them or carbohydrates that are not healthy for your system. The South Beach diet will provide information on what kinds of foods to eat. This includes seafood, lighter types of meat, like chicken, vegetables, eggs, cheese and nuts. Salads are also one of the important parts of the South Beach diet. These types of food are not only known to carry several nutrients in them, but also allow for you to go without being hungry or needing more than three meals a day.

Part of the first phase is also to take out several foods that you are used to eating. This occurs for the first two weeks but is put back in the diet later. This is to help balance out nutrients from the other foods. It is also used to keep you from craving things that may have extra carbohydrates in them or sugars. The eliminated foods consist of bread products, fruits and baked goods. Any types of sugar foods are also taken out of the diet. It is also asked that during these first two weeks, you can’t drink any types of alcohol.

Once you cut these out for two weeks, your body should be back to balance with the nutrients that it needs. You can begin putting in the foods that you like that were cut out before. During this time, you will need to figure out how much you need to eat as well as how much weight you want to loose. This will help in determining how much of each food you can put back in your diet in order to stay balanced.

The third phase occurs after you have reached your ideal weight. In this phase, you should have reached the ideal weight that you want. At this point, the main thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t add in too many of the foods that were not healthy for you. There needs to be a balance among the nutrients that you receive in your meals.

The South Beach Diet is known to be an effective method to losing weight and keeping it off. It is a way to gradually change your body to be balanced, as well as allow for you to change your lifestyle so that you begin to feel healthy and take whatever measures necessary in order to be balanced. By moving onto the South Beach Diet, you will learn how to balance your meals and the nutrients that move into your body.

Being a parent, it is very hard to compete against the highly unhealthy processed fast food fun meals to ensure that our children are eating a healthy balanced diet. Fast food is constantly being advertised on the TV, it is in our children’s recreational areas via other children, and it come in bright, exciting packaging which is accompanied by toys. The problem is, when children are visiting fast foods restaurants or eating ‘fun meals’ they are missing out on the healthy nutrients that should be filling their little stomachs.

You should always make sure your child’s diet contains whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. To ensure their bones grow strong and healthy, they will also require a good source of calcium. Healthy sources of proteins include fish, eggs, meat, poultry, plant sources, and should be consumed on a regular basis for a healthy balanced diet. Foods such as these provide your child with the vitamins micronutrients and minerals, in fact everything our children need to build a strong, healthy body.

There is absolutely no reason why your child should be eating large amounts of sugar. Sugar in a child’s diet is seriously bad for them and unfortunately is on the increase due to the highly refined processed foods available on supermarket’s shelves.

Some experts argue a child’s behaviour can be dictated by sugar in their diet, particularly in their activity levels, whereas others state that sugar intake does not play a part. It probably depends on the individual child.

When a child’s blood glucose level falls below the normal limit, there is a release of adrenaline, known as hypoglycaemia. There are many signs and symptoms that can arise as a result such as sweatiness, shaking and altered behaviour and thinking. This adrenaline release occurs at a higher glucose level in children than that of adults. It is thought sugar itself is not the problem; it’s the highly refined carbohydrates and sugars which, due to their refinement enter the bloodstream a lot quicker causing rapid fluctuations in a child’s blood glucose levels.

By giving your child a high fibre breakfast such as shredded wheat, oatmeal, bananas or berries, their adrenaline levels will be kept at a constant level enabling them to maintain concentration throughout their morning. You should ensure that their lunch box is packed with high fibre foods such as whole grain breads, fruits enabling them to continue through their day without sudden changes in their blood glucose levels.

A child’s insulin control can also be affected by refined sugars. Insulin determines how much fat a child will store. Sugars are found in nearly all foods. They are often referred to with different names such as sucrose, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol or corn syrup.

Sugar is in almost everything we eat, especially if it is processed or refined food.

When you look at labels in the supermarket, you will find sugar under a variety of different names which includes sucrose, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol, or corn syrup on almost every label. The more uncomplicated meals from good wholesome foods contain much less sugar and are therefore much better for those little tummies.

Fruit juice should only be taken in small quantities as well as it contains a lot of sugar. it is much better to offer your children whole fruit which is much easier to digest.
